Moderate Democrats (this observer included)are consistently hoping for a Watergate-type resignation, or even impeachment, resolution of this greatest of all national nightmares.; greater than our civil war of 1861, which pitted equal sides in opposition. Now, a small faction of 15% to 20% of our voting citizens are attempting a coup in support of an obvious authoritarian dictator-in-making.
But hope is literally gone that our Bidens, Schumers, Pelosis, Feinsteins and even Muellers can save our Republic of law, order and justice. Enter: Thermidor. Folks easily forget the 70 million votes garnered by our country’s final president, Barack Obama. And Barack (I can address him by his first name as he insulted we Chicagoans by unduly delaying national honor to Ernie Banks.) didn’t do as well as he should have: 75 million votes were to be had.
Trump received 62 million votes (which included disgruntled Democrats), the same as McCain and Romney who had no Democrat votes. Hillary received 65 million votes in her disastrous outing: she should have had 67 to 68 million. Now who is waiting to vote? How about 75 to 80 million outraged women and youngsters, who are primarily democratic socialists. And don’t tell me that blue collar democrats are going to stay with Trump. They aren’t that dumb.
The essence of this new generation of voters is pure socialism, with the word “democratic” appearing as mere window dressing. We moderates will be unable to restrain the upcoming Storming of the Bastille with cautions about maintaining a democratic order of American Exceptionalism. As in late Athens, late Rome, the Venetian republics, The Ages of Louis and Czar Nicolas, our experiment with republican democracy has run its course. Perhaps not a Law of History or an Iron Law of Oligarchy, but a historical reality nonetheless. We received our first reprieve in 1932, but without a modern FDR to teach the lessons of the Federalist Papers, the new generations (and I believe that it will be several) will resort to their rudimentary comprehensions of “social justice”. And such justice will be absolute, with, hopefully, merely jail sentences.
