Today’s CPAC finale was a complete bust. Regardless of the balmy weather, the attendees inside and the loungers outside appeared old and tired. Even their banners and the Golden Calf seemed that they wanted to be somewhere else.
Any continued Dem legislative momentum should finish the game by 2022. Again, it is legislative success that will be the coup de grace, primarily by ending the pandemic and putting working people back to work, especially in the red areas.
Anger and resentment can go only so far. “Cancel Culture” is unintelligible to those who are spending at the mall. Other government reform measures should be left on the table to act as incentives for the left base turnout in the 2022 elections. After those elections, the Trump influence will cease with a Dem pick-up of 12 House seats and 3 Senate seats. There will be no GOP challenger until 2028.
