The GOP – and America – After November

The Trump GOP Isn’t Done With Us Yet!

The recent spate of descriptions of the Donald Trump GOP supporters has included everything from economic desperation to outright racism. Whatever the analysis, the most important fact is this: they’re not going away after the November election. It is therefore of little use to dwell on the “who and why” issue now. It is, however, critical that preparations are made for the post-election scene.

After the election, the country will be divided as it is now: 10% liberal, 10% establishment GOP, 10% free-market radicals, 10% Christian fanatics, 10% Donald Trump malcontents and 50% moderate centrists. What is of significance here is the Donald Trump faction permanently preventing a reformed GOP from competing for any federal office, from Congress to the White House.

With Project 2020, the Democrats will likely challenge the current GOP Congressional district maps. The GOP establishment (including the Paul Ryan – Ayn Rand loonies) will likely garner the free-marketeers and a good portion of the religious types. But if HRC is stabilizing the economy in any way, the missing and alienated Trump faction will hinder any GOP attempts at regaining significant power.

And this is especially so if HRC likely (and hopefully) returns to liberal interventionism in foreign policy and gains at least a modicum of support from the “neo-cons”, whoever that may be these days. As this author has set forth in his recent From the Cold War to Donald Trump’s GOP (Amazon e-book), this November’s election will surprise many skeptics regarding the intelligence of the average American voter.
