THIS WRITER HAS CHANGED HIS MIND ON THIS ISSUE. Now that Dems have momentum, they should save their ammo for the next Supreme Court vacancy, which may or may not be soon. Granting Gorsuch a pass will provide Dems with two additional points of leverage. First, any controversial Gorsuch opinion will further enrage the Dem base. Second, the filibuster option will be stronger, as Senator Mitch will be more exposed for his hypocrisy. In the 2018 election year, it is imperative that the Dems have as many bases of leverage as possible. Losing the filibuster option now will be a wasted arrow.
